Now in its 24th year, the OCFF conference is the key event for Ontario's folk, roots, and traditional music community. Spanning four days and three nights, it's a long weekend programmed to the hilt with provocative speakers, educational seminars, engaging roundtable discussions, informal meetings, performer showcases, and the best jam sessions outside of the festival circuit, all combining to make the OCFF conference an essential and inspiring experience for almost 800 attendees (including artistic directors, presenters, and provincial, national, and international industry organizations).

Upcoming conferences:
October 14 to 17, 2010, Ottawa, Ontario
October 13 to 16, 2011, Location TBA

PRELIMINARY 2010 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE NOW AVAILABLE!

A preliminary conference schedule is now available for download. The OCFF's Conference Steering Committee has worked hard to create a diverse program with interesting content for all of our delegates, and Board and staff members are now in the process of contacting potential panelists. While we hope to keep changes to a minimum, please note that this schedule is subject to change, and should be used for general information purposes only.
New versions of the schedule will be uploaded here as they become available.

Every year musicians showcase their unique talents at the OCFF’s annual conference. In 2010 there will be 24 Official Showcases, 2 Family Showcases and a Youth Showcase featuring participants in the Youth Program. The conference schedule is rounded out by numerous Sponsored Showcases and Private Showcases - all part of the official activities of the annual conference.

After sifting through nearly 350 submissions, a lucky few have been chosen to present at the OCFF Official showcases at the conference this October. We urge all applicants to come to the conference whether chosen or not – there are many ways to learn, to network and to create opportunities for your music to be heard and appreciated.

Private Showcase Application Deadline: CLOSED

A Private Showcase is defined as a performance or series of performances in a hotel room on the Music Floors of the host hotel. It is part of the official activities of the OCFF conference. This year, one Music Floor will be acoustic only, and one will be semi-acoustic.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF PRIVATE SHOWCASE ROOMS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. If you are interested in hosting a semi-acoustic private showcase on Friday night ONLY, please contact Jennifer Ellis at the OCFF office, 613-560-5997, or toll-free at 1-866-292-6233.***

Everyone who appears in a private showcase must be a registered delegate. A special Private/Sponsored Showcase rate of $180.00 plus tax for the full conference will be offered to private showcase presenters. In addition, one member of each band appearing in a private showcase must be registered for the full conference. Other band members may register at a reduced "Side Player" rate of $125.00 plus tax. Side players paying this rate will have access to showcases only.

5. Room assignments will be made by the OCFF and confirmed by e-mail on or before September 1, 2010.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ottawa will be hosting the conference, and the OCFF will have a block of rooms available for delegates at a room rate of $129/night.  Anyone wishing to receive this rate will first need to register for the conference.

Hotel room reservation requests will be made directly with the Crowne Plaza Hotel, by calling the OCFF's reservations agent, Jennifer Rose, at 613-237-3600, ext. 6239. You will be asked to provide your Confirmation Number in order to request a hotel room reservation:

  • If you sent in a completed Conference Registration form, you will receive the confirmation number by e-mail from the OCFF.
  • If you purchased your conference registration online through the Shopping Cart, you will receive confirmation by e-mail, containing an "Order Number". This is your confirmation number.

PLEASE NOTE: The only variance to this system of booking hotel rooms will be in the case of the two “Music Floors”, which are reserved for Private Showcases.  Anyone wishing to present a private showcase is required to complete a Private Showcase Application, which will be processed by the OCFF, and then to complete and submit a Hotel Reservation Request form.
